Sony + Pretty Japanese Girls = Sleek Speakers

The good guys at Sony Design have jumpsuit-clad Japanese nymphs working their R&D department (not really, but they could work with me at Groupster). Out of it comes a glass column speaker, sleek & purdy as a Yokohama Mama.

[The device is a] column rising vertically from a stone floor, tapering into a translucent pole from which sound emerges in all directions. The radiating sound defines the space through which it propagates-like ripples produced by a stone dropped in a pond…
Sony joins with Master Craft Lombardia to design these speakers as well as other products. They intend to “craft a variety of materials into unique and original pieces that produce sounds and images and are exhibited in a fascinating and suggestive setting.”
