Heather Mills, former British sex manual model and estranged wife of Paul McCartney, is trouncing the competition on ABC's Dancing with the Stars (US). Why am I impressed? Because she only has one leg.
The sassy Brit has shown up a former supermodel, a former Miss USA, and an NSYNC star on the international TV phenomenon that holds a top spot in the television culture of 31 nations. Originating in Britain, it's only kosher that Mills infiltrates the US version of Dancing with the Stars with her British wit and intense work ethic (which more than compensates for her lack of limbs). The dancing flips she's gracefully executed have shocked and awed the judges, other contestants, and millions of viewers.
The British dancing star lost her leg in 1993 when a police motorcycle clipped her near London's Kensington Palace. Mills had a metal plate put into her pelvis and her leg was amputated below the knee. These injuries have made things difficult for her "Dancing with the Stars" debut. While most of the stars train for about 40 hours a week, Mills is lucky if she can go ten hours training with partner Jonathan Roberts.
Dancing stars also include NSYNC's Joey Fatone, Female Boxing Champ Laila Ali, 90210 bad-boy Ian Zeiring, and Olympic gold medal winner Apollo Anton Ohno. In the coming weeks they will compete in the Quickstep, Foxtrot, Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba and Tango. Tune in Mondays at 8pm and vote for Heather. After Dancing with the Stars, our favorite legless dancer is rumored to be moving to LA to pursue an acting career and to continue her well-received efforts in philanthropy!
