Youtube Vs. Viacom aside. Youtube has friends, that's because Youtube is bigger than those other guys (other video websites). So instead of other TV & other companies making a competitor for youtube, they decide to unify and make deals.
I got curious about who YouTube is "down with". I came up with a list of names and conditions.
Youtube & CBS: youtube gets clips from "March Madness". Youtube will share revenue with CBS from mandatory advertisements by Pontiac and General Motors.
Youtube & Warner Music: " Music videos from artists such as Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Sean Paul will be legally available on youtube"
Youtube & G4: Brings You Star Trek 2.0.
Youtube & NBA: Exclusive game clips, highlights and NBA related material.
Youtube & BBC: "YouTube will offer clips of new shows and specially commissioned promotional content from the BBC"
Youtube & ABC: Brings you shows like "around the watercooler".
Google & Youtube: Google bought the company for $1.65 Billion. With Youtube under the ambitious Google, there isn't much to be scared of. Even Lawsuits from NBC.
Lots of companies are getting involved in one way or another with youtube. They write up deals to split money from the pretty costless revenue that Youtube generates from advertisements.
Let me know who else youtube has deals with.
Thanks Reuters and Google
