Rockstar pulled a Grand Theft Auto on Apple and recruited a new head of marketing right from Apple.
His name is Alex Moulle-Berteaux whom had his hand in campaigns for Apple with the iPod, iPhone, and Mac Books.
Its not really a jack move though, Moulle-Berteaux is something like a third party contracted marketer.
Here's What Rockstar has to say about it:
"We are very excited to bring Alex on board," said Sam Houser, Founder and Executive Producer of Rockstar Games. "The creative, marketing, and branding experience Alex brings, as well as his background in the technology and entertainment industries, will help us realize our mission to propel the compelling games we create to the center of the entertainment industry."& here's Alex has to say:
"I have admired Rockstar Games for years and am proud to be joining the extraordinary group of creative and technology talent, responsible for building the industry's leading publishing label," added Mr. Moullé-Berteaux. "Rockstar Games is a uniquely positioned entertainment brand that has earned incredible loyalty from its audience based on the company's obsession with quality, integrity and innovation in the games they make. I am looking forward to leveraging my experience to continue to build the brand and bring Rockstar's games to an ever-broader audience."Rockstar plus the mind behind Apples strategy's of advertisement plus mega-tons of buzz & hype with their GTA series looks like a nice formula. I feel they don't really need Alex all that much though, their commercials and methods of marketing worked well enough before. Kotaku said "Hopefully we'll be seeing more gangster silhouettes on neon backdrops". I don't know what to expect.
Thanks Kotaku & Take 2
